Moscow FM Band Scan March 2016
On March 18-19, 2016 I surfed Moscow's FM band 87.5 - 108.0 MHz and did an FM station count.
During my first attempt I counted 36 stations and the memory in my point-and-click overflowed with 102-105 MHz not yet covered.
A day after the above attempt I had another FM session and used my cell phone with more memory and this time the result was 44 stations.
And I was using auto-tune on a Sony home component stereo, a 2002 Sony MHC RG40, and at least a couple more stations were skipped over by said autotune, so the actual number is closer to 50.
Only one Moscow FM station - Capital FM @ 105.20 - broadcasts in English.
Interestingly, while the FM band in Moscow is as full as in any other major world city and there is also an extension of it - the Russian UKW band, the AM band has on the other hand become almost completely depopulated in recent years with only a couple of stations, well, maybe four or three but most of them broadcasting only part of the day and not every day of the week at that.

VreMax: Shortwave September 29, 2014
This is my new blog to deal exclusively with my occasional
and amateur interest in radio, and this is actually the third post on
it, but for now I am transferring here radio related posts from my other
blog - Vremax.
Quoting below.

The catch this time:
- Some American Jesus radio -- something about the Sign... of the coming of the Lord, rather poor reception
- CRI - China Radio International on multiple frequencies -- a quick Chinese lesson and a full news bulletin
- (New!) General Overseas Service of All India Radio -- something about climate change
- (New!) Some radio with a pro-Palestinian, pro-lib message.
- (New!) Germany's DW English -- laying it into Hungary's Victor Orban for not loving the EU enough.
Part 1 -- American Jesus radio (...the Sign!), a CRI quick and "easy" Chinese talking lesson...
Part 2 -- CRI Chinese talking lesson ("... "me" means "you"...") and a full news bulletin...
Part 3 -- General Overseas Service of All India Radio with a bit on climate change and a program announcement and some radio with a pro-Palestinian pro-lib, pro-fight message.
Part 4 -- same as the latter in Part 3 (continued) and Germany's DW laying it in English into Hungary's Orban for not enough love for the EU...

VreMax: Shortwave Listening September 2014
Hello, I have started a new blog to deal exclusively with my occasional and amateur interest in radio, and this is actually the first post on it, but for now I am transferring here radio related posts from my other blog - Vremax.

Date: 14.09.2014
Time: about 1.30 to 2.30 Moscow time
Location: some 100 (let's say) km to north (let's say) of Moscow.
What I got and was able to identify:
A Russian ham radio operator out of Tver - Radio Artyom
China Radio International / CRI on multiple frequencies -- some kind of round table discussion and a Chinese lesson
India Radio International / IRI - a news bulletin
Radio Romania International / RRI - a news bulletin
Some American Jesus radio, etc.
Part 1. Russian ham radio operator - Radio Artyom - not getting much response; CRI - some kind of round table discussion with some Americans and a Chinese lady host.
"...we flush them (drugs -- as in medical preparations) down the toilet...". Me, like, "Never mind what you flush down the toilet..."
"...we flush them (drugs -- as in medical preparations) down the toilet...". Me, like, "Never mind what you flush down the toilet..."
Part 2. Some radio exchange (ATC?). Also, Jam Hsiao-Princess plays briefly and was already claimed by WMG, I thank you for nothing.
Part 3. CRI - an easy Chinese speaking lesson, some IRI
Part 4. Radio Romania International (RRI) - a full news bulletin and IRI - a news bulletin
"...Romania remains..."
"...Romania remains..."
Part 5. Some American Jesus radio, a small bit, various other stuff, not much
